Music from 1953...the year I was born

On Wednesday, July 11th, I'll be 59 years old. I thought it'd be fun to see what the music was like back in 1953. Music sure has changed. No profanity...and the performers had all their clothes on. Unbelievable. Hope you enjoy this nostalgic musical journey.

"I'm Walking Behind You"- Eddie Fisher

"How Much Is that Doggie in the Window?"- Patti Page

"Song from Moulin Rouge" - Percy Faith Orchestera

"No Other Love" - Perry Como

"Va Ya Con Dios" - Les Paul & Mary Ford

What a difference a year or two would make ...

At that time, we had more music and less theater.

More than a year or two...but I think I prefer the music from my younger years. No profanity...no pyrotechnics...and you could actually hear and understand the lyrics.

Whit,
Totally agree...it was the song and the performer's voice that attracted his or her fans...not cheap tricks...outrageous costumes and gimmicks. Hmmm...maybe I am showing my age a little bit but I miss those days.

My mother was a big fan of Percy Faith and Perry Como. I remember hearing that play from the stereo console in the livingroom. She would go about her ironing and dusting while singing along. She actually had a pretty good voice then.

Nothing's been the same since 1954...Rock n Roll is here to stay.

Nancy,
Glad to bring back some pleasant memories for you with this musical post.

I actually saw Perry Como in concert with my "practice wife" in the 1980s. It was a great concert.
