Whit, Sad to say that's a widely accepted idea. Libraries are no longer considered archives...rather they're community centers offering entertainment via internet, dvds, cds, emedia...and the bookshelves are supposed to be at least 25 percent empty for merchandising opportunities.

I like the cartoon with the library patron being told that if he wanted a book, he should have gone to a bookstore. :^)
